cold enviroment

Hi, I'm a newbie :) Just wanted to introduce myself and ask a stupid amateur question.

I'm very interested in growing orchids but haven't bought one yet. I thought it would be better to learn more about them so i wouldn't make so much mistakes when i actually have one in my hands.
I live in Finland, so the enviroment here is extremely cold and difficult for orchids. I was wondering if there are any "easy" beginner species that would tolerate the hard conditions (lack of light, cool temperature, humidity, draft..) better than most species. Is a flower lamp, or some other special devises, needed to keep the orchid alive?

I read the memories but didn't find an answer to my question. Sorry for the possible typos.

Hi there! I was in Finland a couple of years back. I absolutely fell in love with it! I can't wait to visit again someday! My compliments to your city. I started with Phalenopsis. That is what I have stuck with and had the best luck growing. Mine sit in my kitchen window and absorp the sun there. I fertilize with the green year round Orchid type. I use 1/4 tsp to a gallon of water each time I fert. They are super easy to grow you water them 1 time a week and viola. Beautiful flowers. I hope that helps somewhat!

Thank you! That does help :) I'm just worried I'll kill the plant somehow. I'm like the only person on the planet who has succeeded in killing a cactus by watering it too often...

Btw, I'm glad you liked Finland.
